Ed Paschke Dies
The American artist has died in his home at the age of 65. Ed Paschke gained recognition in the 60s when he was working with a group of artists known as the "Imagists" that borrowed heavily from Pop art.
What did Ed die of? I knew him slightly in chicago during his heyday in the early 80's. His art was kinetic and seemed a kind of warning against the age of media, television in particuar: like a Warhol painting in an electic socket. As a man he was quit modest and gracious. Damn. Too young!
He died of heart failure according to the New York Times.
Here's what Jeff Koons said about him (Koons was once a student of Paschke).
"Ed Paschke taught me what it meant to be a professional artist. His paintings are like drugs, but in a good way: they are among the strongest physical images that I've ever seen. They affect you neurologically."
