I think the work has great merit...thought-provoking it is.

I suppose this is where one has to ask the self, what is the function of art? That same person must realize that the answer will be different for each person. For some, the function of art is to simply have something that compliments the wall paper, to others it will need to be much more...i.e. if having any wallpaper at all, the art will define what the wallpaper should be.

And for anyone concerned with the health and welfare of the fish, well the artist states:

"He described the knife as blunt, explaining, "If you run your thumb along it, you re not going to cut yourself. Fish don 't tend to cut themselves on coral or broken bottles so it looks more of a threat than it is"."

I say, Have you ever tried to cut a tomato with a dull kitchen knife?
