  Rich Art Collectors
Modern day Medicis or top billionaire art collectors according to the Forbes Business magazine. After first being completely annoyed by all the talking, moving, popping and flashing advertisements on the Forbes website, I came across the list..
Paul Allen of Microsoft is snapping up Cezannes, Manets, Gauguins and impressionists in general.
Eli Broad of SunAmerica is a long time collector of modern and contemporary art.
Steven Covey of the SAC Capital hedge fund collects "trophy" names. He started with Monet and Manet 5 years ago and now goes for Hirst and Pollock.
David Geffen of Geffen Records collects big name contemporary and moderns, like Jasper Johns and Pollock.
Henry Kravis donated $10 million to New York's Metropolitan Museum and got his name on a wing of the Museum. He has the likes of Renoir hanging on his walls.
Leonard Lauder and his cosmetics empire like cubism and Cezanne.
Samuel Irving Newhouse of Conde Nast likes Jasper Johns, Andy Warhol and other modern/contemporary works.
Francois Pinault bought Christie's in 1999 so he probably has a bit of everything in his collection.
Kenneth Thomson is Canada's richest man, which helps when you collect old masters.
Steve Wynn and his Las Vegas casinos likes anything expensive, especially the "Boy with a Pipe" painting by Picasso that he recently bought for $US105 million.
The buygazette.com editor probably just missed out on being included in the list (purchased 2 fine art posters recently).

So much for having lots of money and bad taste. I wonder if anybody is buying something that does not belong to the "Dark Age" period in Art.

Anyone knows where the Rich Art Collectors are online? blogs, youtube, myspace...?

Art is such a personal thing.

With all of the experts on Sondro Botticell paintings. Can anyone tell me if there are hidden letters in his original painting called La Madonna Del Magnificat? Can anyone tell me if a photographer took a photograph by Botticelli and blew this picture up to about 3 feet by 3 feet that these letters would appear? A f

Did photographers back then need permission to photograph original paintings? If there is a seal and a label and a number would this identify who might have commissioned Giacomo Brogi to photograph this picture? Is it possible to have a reproduction that size on some Kind of Linen Cloth? Is there some one out there that would know if the Bartholome Estaban Murillo painting called the Immaculate Conception of De Soult how many Cherubs there are in the ORIGINAL painting? I have a picture or reproduction or copy that has 32 Cherubs it's about 4 feet by 4 feet and it's on some kind of board or panel. Did they have reproductions this big on board or paneling? Also the frame is unusual on each corner of the frame it looks like some sort of med-evil or maybe some sort of masked armor that they might have worn back then for battle this is the way I look at it. It could be something totally different. I would love to know where they came from. I have both of these pictures so if there is anyone who has answers to these questions I would appreciate it so much.
Thank you for your assistance

I forgot to add this information, who ever did this picture, photograph, reproduction copy, whatever they might have left their finger prints behind. I thought this was interesting!

It is interesting...you do learn a bit about a person by seeing what they collect - are they going for a name or a personal connection? Are they out for the hunt or out for fullfilment art can give you?

Frankly, I would be more interested in the postman and his wife, who trusted their gut and put together a monumental collection of 20th century art. There still are people who are buying unknown artists and building amazing collections. I just visited several in the Washington DC area, and was amazed at the breadth and quality of their collections.

Krystyna81 & Beverly Kaye Gallery
The picture by Botticelli, was given to me they have been in the family for many years. I'm not an art collector. So not looking for great wealth just answers regarding the hidden letters. Art collectors, Art Professors, Art Museum's, The people of the Uffizi don't have the answers. I'm not interested in the postman and his wife collecting art. I'm looking for an expert who can just answer my questions.
