David Hockney Interview
Mark Feeney of the Boston Globe newspaper spoke to the British artist David Hockney about life and his exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), "David Hockney Portraits".
Here's a couple interesting David Hockney quotes I plucked out of the interview..

Hockney's various books show him to be one of the more articulate currently practising artists.
For those who do not know the Harvard lectures of the late Ben Shahn, having just reread the publication of them, I can continue to strongly recommend, The Shape of Content, which contains, to be precise, The Charles Eliot Norton Lectures, 1956-1957. Clear and incisive, he will force you to articulate your disagreements while at the same time recognizing that he speaks some truths about the nature of creativity and the necessity for freedom to be able to do so, with which most of us agree.
Among ready articulators who may not have the same gift for clarity but is always interesting and often controversial (a virtue to some of us) is the art school friend of Hockney's for whom he served as Best Man at his marriage of some decades ago, R.B. Kitaj. The Marlborough Gallery catalogue to Kitaj's last show there (a stunner to this viewer, mostly made up of pictures from the post early 90's period when he returned to the United States after the death of his wife and what he felt was bigoted mistreatment by Brit critics) contains his brief second manifesto which follows by some years his publication of the first manifesto. As are these late pictures, he gives vent to his views of art and life in an admirably expressive manner. By the way, if you get a chance to see those later pictures grab it, he has loosened up his brushwork and earns his spurs as a contemporary expressionist who can play on the same field with his 20th century predecessors.

I would probably prefer the work of R.B. Kitaj.
Hockney is probably better at being an artist. He also seems more consistant, but his works can also be a little cold sometimes.

It might be worth getting in touch with some galleries or dealers in his work. There's a list of David Hockney dealers and galleries here according to Art
