London born Australian artist Richard Larter died on Friday at the age of 85. The highly celebrated artist has works in most major museums throughout the country. His work was pop inspired, pointillist, and even abstract, but he was probably most well known for his female nudes, some of which are graphically erotic. The skeptic in me says “nothing like a bit of censorship to get the word out, for free” but the old conservative man in me says “tone down the come-hither look and nobody would have a problem with it” (just so we’re clear, I’m not old or conservative, I don’t sit in any boxes). George Condo will be showing a group of new works on paper at the Skarstedt Gallery in London from the 11th of February. It will coincide with a painting exhibition by the American artist at the Simon Lee Gallery in London. It looks like it’ll be a really nice show. I wish London was a little closer to Australia

Part of the erotic art collection of Penthouse founder and publisher Bob Guccione is currently up for auction online at Live Auctioneers. Among the more than one thousand items of erotica, cartoons, collectibles, celebrity photos, original art, and memorabilia is a series of nude photographs of the famous singer Madonna.
Art and sex come together at the British Museum in a new exhibition called Shunga: Sex and pleasure in Japanese art. Shunga, which is the Japanese term for erotic art, literally meaning spring pictures, is a selection 170 works from collections around the world, in the form of paintings, prints and illustrated books. The Ron Mueck exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris, France has been extended until October 27. I’m still yet to see any of the hyper-realist sculptor’s work and would love to use this exhibition as an excuse to go and have a coffee and people-watch in Paris, but the bank thinks my mortgage is more important! Just browsing some of the art projects looking to get funded at Kickstarter. For those that don’t know, Kickstarter allows creatives to set up a page to accept funds to complete a project. The project creator offers all kinds of incentives for backers which can include anything from live concerts to hugs. If the funding goal is reached before the deadline, the funds are released to the artist and the project can be completed, otherwise the funds are returned to the supporters.
