Tired of looking like all the other sheep in boring old textile clothes? You might be interested in wearable wooden sculpture! American artist Tracy Featherstone’s wooden creations may not win any awards for comfort, in fact some are more like walking prisons than clothes, but you’ll definitely be noticed walking down the street in them. They’re the craziest, coolest things I have seen in a long while, I love them! Continue Reading

Matt Sesow in Australia – 19 Karen
I’m just going to pretend that I haven’t stopped posting for a couple of months and continue on like all is normal. Actually it probably is normal for me to disappear for a couple of months Anyway, I was recently on holidays for a week on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia and saw the DC artist Matt Sesow showing at the 19 Karen gallery at Mermaid Beach! His wife Dana Ellyn and the Italian artist Agostino Iacurci were also showing work.Continue Reading
Restricted Areas in Russia by Photographer Danila Tkachenko
Danila Tkachenko’s ‘Restricted Areas’ project is a look at once important areas in Russia which are now deserted. Abandoned government projects, hidden cities, forgotten science, and empty buildings that were a part of a technological push forward. The cold Russian winter and the lens of Tkachenko have teamed up to remember these areas and make them beautiful. White is my favorite color Continue Reading
John David Wissler Paints Italy
Everywhere I look lately I seem to come across amazing landscape paintings. The landscapes I love the most are those that can’t be mistaken for anything other than a painting. If it looks like a photograph of a landscape it’s probably better off being a photograph. John David Wissler’s landscape paintings are wonderful little painterly gems. They’re the sort of work I want to have around me at the moment as I need as much calm and beauty as I can find. I can’t afford to buy a Wissler landscape but I have one as my computer desktop at the moment Continue Reading
Having Thick Skin Always Helps
I’m not sure if this post is going anywhere, but I was just thinking about how many extra layers of skin I have had to grow over the years to be able to deal with life. As an artist you have to be able to deal with criticism or you should never let anyone see your work, ever. As a business owner you have to be able to deal with rude customers. As a blogger publishing opinions online you have to deal with those who don’t like your opinions. As a person you have to deal with LIFE. Continue Reading
Edwin Kenjiro Gardiner Interiors
Edwin Kenjiro Gardiner will be showing at The Q Exhibition Space in Queanbeyan, Australia. It’s two separate exhibitions by the artist. ‘Price of Oil’ looks at more environmental and political issues while ‘Presence and Absence’ looks at human spaces and interiors. So the politics may make you mad, but the welcoming interiors will give you a space to think and relax. Lets look at some of Edwin’s interiors..Continue Reading
Chris Langlois Landscapes at Olsen Irwin
Weather Systems by Chris Langlois opens at the Olsen Irwin gallery in Sydney on the 20th of this month. I like his large realist works of the sea and clouds, they’re minimalist and make you ponder, just as the sea itself does. But I like his smaller, much looser landscape sketches much more. They’re so much more free and alive. I know which works would have been more fun to paint! Continue Reading
Famous Singers Who Paint
I was just thinking in the bathtub (which is where I solve the problems of the world) about music and painting. I was listening to random songs on the iPod and the songs were so ridiculously varied, from System of a Down to Beethoven and everything in between. Much like paintings, I love a really wide variety of works, from Bruegel to Hirst. But in both music and painting my absolute favorite works are those where the maker seems to be about to lose control. They’re emotionally intense, filled with extremes, and they’re begging you to react to them. They could be screaming with rage, quietly crying or on a spiritual high.. none of them are relaxed and comfortable though. I’m not sure where I’m going with this, but here’s some famous singers who also paint Continue Reading
